Those old, unused prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, needles and syringes, even pet medicines, can be turned in safely at several locations during Saturday’s Prescription Drug Round-up.

Hours of collection are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, 1355 Capital Blvd. in Reno and at the following Scolari’s Food and Drug Co. locations:

• 1300 Disc Drive, Sparks

• 6255 Sharlands Ave., Reno

• 8165 S. Virginia St., Reno

• 4788 Caughlin Pkwy., Reno

Items not being accepted include institutional or business waste, non-prescription liquids and latex gloves. It is recommended that patient names on labels be blacked out on prescription containers. Organizers say drop-offs will be safe and confidential, with no questions asked.

The event is sponsored by the office of Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.
