RENO — Five members of the popular and eclectic Wild Women Artists group will give a live demonstration of their art from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.

Demonstration day artists work in a variety of art forms, including colorful textile art and embroidery by Jimmie Benedict, oil paintings on copper with Pat Wallis, incredible creations of felt, silk threads and wire by Claudia Knous, unique stories woven with needle and thread by Kathleen Durham and eye-catching silk and fiber art by guest artist Karel Hendee.

The Wilbur D. May Museum is located in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park at 1595 N. Sierra St. in Reno. Entry into the exhibit area is free. For information, call 785-5961.

Other Wild Women Artists exhibit highlights include:

May Gallery preview exhibit through Nov. 5.

Wild Women Weekend Show and Sale: Nov. 6, 7 and 8.

Meet the Artist opening night reception: Nov. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Children’s Story Hour with Kathleen Durham: Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.

The group of artists known as the Wild Women began in 1993 largely due to founding member Jimmie Benedict who wanted to establish a community of artists in the Reno area. It has grown since then to include artists as far away as Utah to the east and Lake Tahoe to the west. Reno members will offer a raffle during the show to support the annual “Wild Women Emerging Artist Award,” given in conjunction with the Nevada Museum of Art’s National Scholastic Art Awards.
