RENO — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Reno Field Office director Monica Toro will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens during a special naturalization ceremony today at 9 a.m. at the University of Nevada, Reno. The ceremony is part a series of naturalization ceremonies held throughout the country to celebrate Citizenship Day, which is celebrated Sept. 17 in remembrance of the signing of the Constitution in 1787.

Adilia Ross, UNR International Student Adviser, will serve as keynote speaker. The Nevada Singers will perform the national anthem and "God Bless America."

The 34 citizenship candidates originate from 14 nations. USCIS naturalized more than one million citizens in fiscal year 2008.

The ceremony will take place in the Matthewson IGT Knowledge Center Auditorium, 1664 Virginia St.
