RENO — The Wilbur May Museum will open at 7 a.m. during the Great Reno Balloon Race so early morning visitors to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park can experience the museum’s special family exhibit, Sherlock Holmes and the Clocktower Mystery.

From Friday through Sunday, the museum will be open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. The museum is transformed into a foggy corner of Victorian London, where there is a mystery afoot. Exhibit visitors become English detectives faced with a murder mystery to solve. Clues are found throughout the exhibit and a mystery character, played by a live actor, helps pull the case together.

Highlights of the three-day open house include an art exhibit and sale featuring works by the Wild Women Artists and the Sierra Nevada Watercolor Society.

The Wilbur D. May Museum in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park is located at 1595 N. Sierra St. in Reno. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 children under 18 and seniors 62 and over. For information, call 823-6500 or visit www.washoecountyparks.com.

The Sherlock Holmes exhibit is on display through Sept. 20.
