“Arizona cypresses were selected for this campaign because of their drought tolerance and their many uses in the home landscape,” said John Rosenow, chief executive of the foundation. “They lend beauty to their surroundings with their blue-green foliage. They can be used as individual ornamentals, as a windbreak or privacy screen, or as living Christmas trees. They will also add to the proud heritage of Nevada’s 11 Tree City USA communities. For more than 30 years, Tree City USA has supported community forestry across Nevada and planting these trees will make this tree-planting tradition even stronger.”
The trees will be shipped post paid between Oct. 15 and Dec. 10, at the right time for planting. The 6- to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Planting instructions are enclosed with each shipment of trees.
To receive the free Arizona cypress trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Ten Arizona Cypresses, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410, by Sept. 30 or join online at www.arborday.org.
