A California man died Thursday in a car accident north of Wadsworth after his car drifted and he overcorrected, rolling the vehicle.

Ashby C. Hart, 29 of Ross, Calif., was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his car, Ryan Collins, 35, of Roseville, Calif., sustained minor injuries.

On Thursday at 10:25 p.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident on State Route 447, approximately 36 miles north of Wadsworth.

The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a silver 1998 BMW sedan with California license plates was traveling north on the two-lane highway when Hart allowed the vehicle to drift off the roadway edge.

Hart overcorrected the steering, lost control of his vehicle and it rolled over, coming to rest on its top 60 feet from the roadway edge.

Hart sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. Collins sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno by REMSA. He was treated and released.

Although both occupants were wearing seatbelts, the damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle was too extreme for Hart to survive, troopers said.
