RENO — Michael Glen is the first paraplegic in the world to become a hot air balloon pilot. That feat in and of itself is tremendous, but Glen’s story about becoming a hot air balloon pilot despite adversity is just as amazing. Glen will share his story with students at Galena High School on Wednesday just after 8 a.m. He will also be at Marvin Piccolo School on Thursday starting between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

Glen is also scheduled to attend the Great Reno Balloon Race Sept. 11-13 where he will share his hot air balloon with others. On Thursday, he will be participating in the media day events and from Friday through Sunday morning he will be offering tethered balloon rides to young people with disabilities. All riders must obtain a ticket and can do so by contacting Laura Dickey at 334-3123.
