$135 million approved for Nevada, Tahoe projects

LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, Nev. (AP) — More than $135 million has been approved for restoration and improvement projects at Lake Tahoe and throughout Nevada.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey announced the funding on Friday.

The funding includes nearly $27.9 million for Lake Tahoe restoration projects, $30 million for future Lake Tahoe projects and nearly $16 million for the Wetlands Park Project in Clark County.

Other funding includes more than $10 million for parks, trails and natural areas; $13 million for environmentally sensitive land acquisitions; and $10 million for emergency or unexpected project expenditures.

The expenditures are authorized through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act.
