On Aug. 5 at 9:30 p.m., Sparks police responded to a shooting at Sparks Middle School. Upon arrival officers located Camryn Blair, 18, of Reno, lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Blair was transported to Renown where he died a few hours later.

During their investigation, police determined that Blair and Joshua Ross, 18, of Reno, had just robbed two juveniles at Sparks Middle School. When Ross began to raise his gun toward the victims after the robbery, one of the victims pushed the gun away and Ross fired it. The bullet struck Blair and Ross fled the scene. Ross was located that evening and admitted to the robbery and shooting Blair. He was booked at that time for the armed robbery and several other charges.

On Friday, Ross was charged with homicide due to the fact that Ross and Blair were in the commission of a felony when Ross shot and killed Blair.

Sparks police detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Detective Division at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
