RENO — Reno police have arrested a 17-year-old on a charge of open murder for the shooting death of another teen.

The victim was shot Wednesday night near a McDonald's restaurant on Silverada Boulevard. Friends drove him to a hospital, where he died.

Police say witnesses reported seeing a red minivan leaving the area around the time of the shooting.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was arrested Thursday.

Investigators believe the shooting was related to gang activity.
