CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Controller Kim Wallin says getting $2.2 billion in federal stimulus money out to communities and ensuring stringent reporting requirements are met is a big job that will take a team effort.

Wallin says she's committed to working with Gov. Jim Gibbons and his appointed stimulus director, Harvey Charles.

But she also plans to move ahead with plans to hire a stimulus coordinator within her office.

The position became a political flashpoint after a legislative committee controlled by Democrats took Gibbons' request for a stimulus director out of the governor's office and put it under Wallin, who is a Democrat.

Gibbons then signed an executive order taking control of the federal stimulus money, removing state lawmakers from any oversight.
