RENO — Police say a man who barricaded himself in his Reno home for six hours and then likely set it on fire has died.

Reno police Sgt. Pat Dreelan says the 51-year-old man likely died of smoke inhalation.

Police say the man spent a couple of hours in the burning home. His body was found early Monday.

Police arrived Sunday after a report that the man had attacked his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend. When police approached, the man barricaded himself in the home.

Later a blaze engulfed one side of the home, burning through the roof. Firefighters were protected by SWAT team members as they battled the blaze from a distance.

The SWAT team eventually entered the home and found the suspect unconscious in a hallway. He was pronounced dead later at a hospital.
