RENO (AP) — Police say a Reno teenager was struck and killed by a vehicle while in the middle of a street with some partiers.

Police say the 16-year-old victim was struck late Friday night by a car driven by a 19-year-old male who was "showing off" by speeding up and down Grand Canyon Boulevard in Reno.

Investigators say alcohol and speed appear to be factors, and the driver was taken into custody with charges pending.

The names of the driver and victim were not immediately released.

To the south, sheriff's deputies say a 30-year-old man died after he jumped Saturday afternoon from a moving vehicle near Jacks Valley Elementary School in Douglas County.

Rudy Nevarez was pronounced dead at the scene.
