LAS VEGAS (AP) — A new report says health insurance premiums for families in Nevada are rising nearly three times as fast as earnings.

The report by Families USA says that during the past decade, health care premiums for families rose 82.6 percent, from $6,688 to $12,211. The figure includes worker and employer payments for health care.

The report says median earnings rose from $25,411 to $32,635 during the past decade for Nevada workers, 28.4 percent.

The nonprofit pushing for affordable health care for all Americans says the trends show that paying for health care is an increasing burden on families.

The report says it uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support its conclusions.
