An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night in Carson City as he was crossing US 395 near Clearview Lane.

Accident investigators said that a gray 2004 GMC Sierra pickup, driven Joseph Labranch, 27, of Carson City, was traveling north in the far right lane of the six-lane highway Sunday night.

A male pedestrian ran across the highway from the west side and into the path of the pickup. Labranch applied his vehicle’s brakes, police said, but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The front of his truck struck the right side of the pedestrian who died at the scene from those injuries.

Labranch was not injured and submitted to a blood test at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The pedestrian did not have any identification on his person and authorities are trying to identify him.

Anyone with additional information, or who may have witnessed the events leading up to the accident, are asked to contact Trooper Scott Farmer at 689-4623 regarding case no. NHP-0906071348.
