At its monthly meeting tonight, the Spanish Springs Citizen Advisory Board will review and make recommendations for a project that proposes building a 3,300-square-foot bar and grill on La Posada Drive in Spanish Springs.

The CAB meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Lazy 5 Regional Park community center.

The special use permit for the La Posada Bar and Grill is requesting that developer Dennis Banks Construction Co. be able to use the more than 1.2-acre parcel of land at 8995 La Posada Drive, which is designated for general commercial use, to build the 24-hour bar and grill.

In addition to reviewing the special use permit for the La Posada Bar and Grill, the board will listen to an update from Will Lumpkin with the Washoe County Health District, Vector Borne Disease Prevention Program. Lumpkin will present the board with information about the 2009 mosquito abatement program as well as discuss West Nile Virus and other mosquito-borne illnesses.

The CAB will also be discussing cost-saving methods for the 2009 to 2010 fiscal year. The methods up for discussion will include ideas from the Feb. 25 workshop at the county complex.

Some ideas that were discussed at the workshop included canceling CAB meetings when there isn’t enough information for a meeting to be worth the cost of holding it, as well as conjoin CAB’s such as Spanish Springs and Warm Springs becoming on advisory board.

There is no old business that will be discussed at tonight’s meeting.

The community center at Lazy 5 Regional Park is at 7100 Pyramid Highway.
