The Reno-Sparks 9u Muckdogs team won its first tournament championship of the season last weekend. The team, which has been playing together since Labor Day weekend last year, had six players on its roster who hail from the Sparks-Spanish Spring area.

The local club was one of four Muckdogs teams to win a championship in its age bracket.

The Muckdogs 9u team went 5-0 in its tournament run, knocking off the Reno Mustangs 8-6 in Monday's tourney title tilt played at Golden Eagle Regional Park. The Muckdogs' next action will come in mid-March at a tournament in Manteca, Calif.
