The structure is a small vacant building that was once used as an office for a car lot. The property is fenced, but unsecured. This was the second fire in this structure this year.
The first arriving fire company found a fully engulfed structure. The heat and flames had also extended to a carport located within 15 feet from the rear of the structure. Six vehicles were affected by the heat and flames. The carport was located on an adjacent property, separated by a chain-link fence.
Crews quickly extended live lines and initiated firefighting operations utilizing a foam solution. Crews searched the building and found no one to be inside. Remnants of clothing and personal items were found in a portion of the structure that was not burnt.
The structure had multiple ceilings and a roof, which made extinguishment difficult. But, crews were able to make access through each ceiling and completely extinguish the fire. Power was not on to this structure.
Nineteen personnel responded including a Battalion Chief, Safety Officer, Fire Investigator, PIO, four structure engines, and one ladder company.
