Local and regional farmers, along with many other vendors, will gather every Thursday for the duration of the summer.
“We are very excited to move the Sparks Farmers’ Market back to Victorian Avenue,” said Lauren Garber, Public Relations Manager at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. “We hope the move will give the market more of a street festival feel, and allow the market to serve as a gathering place for locals who are looking for the best in fresh, locally grown produce.”
The event will also feature various entertainment, from music to cooking, each evening at the Sparks Farmers' Market. On Thursday, Chef Keith Sadanaga from John Ascuaga’s Nugget demonstrated how to prepare a Grilled Chicken Saté with Pineapple Mango Relish.
Garber said there will be a different cooking demonstration by Nugget Market Chefs at each Farmers’ Market this summer, many of which will feature local produce purchased directly from farmers at the market.
“The Sparks Farmers’ Market is a great place to meet your local farmers and learn about what they grow,” Garber said. “They can help you select the best produce, and keep you up-to-date on what’s currently in season.”
There will also be a Kids’ Area, complete with fun and educational activities for children, on the plaza near the movie theater. The Sparks Farmers’ Market is aimed at being a family-friendly event.
