On June 2, at approximately 1:13 a.m. Sparks Police Officers were dispatched to 1100 Nugget Ave., The Nugget, on a report of a stabbing.  When officers arrived on scene, they met up with the victim, a 45-year-old Sparks resident, who had a large laceration across his chest.  He was transported to Renown Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers were quickly able to identify witnesses and obtained a description of the two suspects. According to witnesses, the suspects ran back inside the Nugget and were described as being white males in their late teens or early 20s. With the assistance of Nugget security, officers were able to identify and later locate both suspects, who after being interviewed by police, admitted to “stabbing” the victim.

The first suspect was identified as a 17-year-old Sparks resident. The second suspect was identified as 19-year-old Shane Hawes of Sparks.  There are no other suspects outstanding.
