The Sparks Police Department received a call from a witness reporting what appeared to be a group of men about to get involved in a fight. A second witness called in to report that shots had been fired from the same group of people.

When officers arrived, they spoke with some of the involved parties and independent witnesses who reported that a confrontation erupted between a group of men that are suspected to associate with two rival gangs. Two of the men produced handguns and fired the weapons. A 17-year-old male juvenile was struck in the abdomen by one of the bullets. He was taken to Renown Medical Center and released a short time later with a non-life threatening injury.

Shooting suspect Jake Ryan Torlone was located in the 1700 block of Berkshire in a residence and taken into custody without incident at 12:58 a.m. this morning (5/10). Torlone was charged with Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon — Firearm, Possession of a Gun by a Prohibited Person, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure and Discharging a Firearm in a Vehicle. Torlone is being held without bail.

The second suspect, David Lee Cunningham, is still outstanding. He is described as a black male adult, 5-feet 7-inches and weighing 200 pounds. Cunningham has a tattoo of a “B” across the front of his neck.

Cunningham is dangerous and may be armed. The public is asked to call the Sparks Police Department or Secret Witness with information as to Cunningham’s location or known details of the shooting.
