“It happened a long time ago,” was Presidential Spokesman Jay Carney’s reply to a question about the Benghazi imbroglio this week. Many reporters and commentators have questioned whether seven months and counting is really that far in the distant past. So far the Obama administration has been able to keep under wraps what really happened in the tragic incident. However, on Wednesday some answers may be forthcoming as Congressman Darrell Issa conducts more hearings on the affair.

Also interesting last week was the President’s response to a question at his press conference about some Benghazi survivors being told not to speak about the affair. The President responded by saying he had no knowledge of such an event and would get back to the press with answers.

Incredibly enough, the day after the President’s press conference, the FBI released photos of three persons that were suspects in the Benghazi incident. This is merely the tip of the spear of the on-going FBI investigation.

These latest developments again call into question the previous assertions made by the President, Secretary Clinton and UN Ambassador Susan Rice. For weeks after the September 2012 incident, all three of these people were sticking to the anti-Muslim video story. When Hillary Clinton was interrogated under oath on Capitol Hill, her most famous response was, “What does it matter?” What was supposed to be an inquiry to get to the bottom of the Benghazi affair rapidly turned into a love fest by the Democratic portion of the Committee. Almost every one of the Dems used their allotted time to compliment Clinton on her running of the State Department for the past four years. Clinton for her part had previously stated that the buck on Benghazi stopped at her desk. This was an obvious ploy to absolve Obama of any blame that might seriously hamper his Presidential bid at the time.

Currently, to add to the confusion, several of the CIA operatives who were rescued from the conflagration at the time of Benghazi have recently sought legal representation to permit them to testify before Congress.

For his part, the new Secretary of State John Kerry has been toeing the line that had previously been drawn by his predecessor. While he himself has stated that he has spoken to one or more of the survivors, he has given no information as to what he learned from them.

The push for a elect committee is mainly trumpeted by Senators John McCain and Lindsay Graham. Such a Committee would have the power to gain access to information that has so far been denied to previous committee hearings.

The long running cover-up of Benghazi certainly has put the Nixon/Watergate cover-up in second place. Nixon did his best to utilize various components of government, including his office, to hide what was a simple break in. Remember nobody died at Watergate.

Raising questions doesn't prove anything. Speculation and "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" doesn't serve those that gave their lives.

Using the deaths of diplomats for some kind of political advantage cheapens their sacrifice and speaks volumes of those who proclaim themselves as "patriotic Americans".

It is ironic that the political party that whines about "Big Government" and cut funding to the State Department Security sure are trying to make political hay of some hard choices that State Department officials and Pentagon had to make as far as deploying their limited resources. Do you protect Tripoli or Benghazi? You can't have it both ways.

And Harry, if your going to use someone else's quotation, you should at least cite them. "Remember, no one died in Watergate" came from Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas and longtime Crisco aficionado.

Speculation, innuendo, and accusations are not evidence of anything. Spreading hate and discontent does not serve America. This type of nonsense serves no one but our enemies.

You know, Terrorists.
