RENO — Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter, is hosting a Camping Weekend Saturday and Sunday with various camping product vendors working at the store, area campgrounds and public land agencies promoting their facilities and a tent city featuring a variety of tent options with camp setups displayed inside and outside the Reno store. Cabela's is located on 8650 Boomtown Road, off Interstate 80 at exit 4.

Saturday also features Cabela’s semi-annual Boy Scout Challenge with area Boy Scouts from the Nevada Area Council participating in a series of scout challenges in a team environment. The free event begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m. and concludes about 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required so enough volunteers and food are arranged. Contact Jamie Klund at 829-4128 to register your troop.

Included in the series of seminars and demonstrations both days in the camping department will be tips on how to pick sleeping bags and tents, getting fitted correctly for backpacks, camp lighting options, GPS navigation and dehydrated foods for camping or backpacking. Various campgrounds and public land organizations will be in attendance as well as conservation partners.

Free child ID photos and information will be provided Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by the Masons and the sheriff’s auxiliary.
