RENO — Family Counseling Service’s Aly’s Prom Closet, a local program providing financially challenged high school students in the Truckee Meadows the resources to ensure they can attend their prom, will open its doors today in Shoppers Square Mall in Reno. This is the 12th season for Aly’s Prom Closet serving students in the Reno-Sparks area.

In partnership with Shoppers Square Mall and other local service providers, Aly’s Prom Closet provides dresses, tuxedos, shoes, hair styles, make-up and other related services to make their special night memorable. Students are qualified for Aly’s Prom Closet through the high school counselors, based on financial need. Since its inception in 2002, Aly’s has assisted over 2,800 local students.

Founded in 2002 by Family Counseling Service of Northern Nevada, (a local non-profit organization), Aly’s Prom Closet will be open 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 26 through April 27.
