Kenny Meyer and TJ McCauley paced the Spanish Springs boys basketball team with 19 and 15 points respectively as it took down Bingham, Utah on the first day of the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic.

The Cougars used their defense to manufacture offense in the second half, breaking open a close 28-22 game at halftime to cruise to a 65-41 victory.

SSHS boys basketball coach Kyle Penney said there was room for improvement, but the players got to experience what it was like to go on a long road trip and then wait around for a late game, while remaining focused.

Spanish Springs (9-2) continues tourney play today against Brea Olinda at 3:55 p.m. and hopes to improve its win streak to eight games.
