The Internal Revenue Service recognizes that many taxpayers may be facing financial hardships and need extra help this filing season. In light of that, IRS has dubbed March 21 as “Super Saturday.” IRS offices in Reno, Las Vegas and many Southern California cities will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

IRS offices will be fully staffed that day to help with the following services:

• Prepare basic tax returns for lower income taxpayers (generally less than $42,000) and offer the lucrative Earned Income Tax Credit. Often overlooked, EITC provides a large refund for eligible taxpayers.

• Resolve tax issues

• Answer tax law questions

• Make account adjustments

• Accept payments

• Establish payment agreements for those who cannot pay taxes in full

• Work with taxpayers who are having a tough time with a tax obligation

• Provide tax forms and information

Local taxpayers are invited to visit the Reno office at 200 S. Virginia St. to get free tax help on March 21.
