With a bid to the state championship match on the line, the Sparks High boys soccer team did not disappoint.

Taking on the Chargers from Clark, the Maroon and Gold scored early and often en route to a 4-1 victory in Henderson, Nev., Friday evening.

Kevin Partida got the Railroaders on the scoreboard first in the fifth minute with a penalty kick. Unsatisfied with the one-goal edge, Partida was back at it again in the 21st minute as he took a pass from Ruben Pacheco and put it into the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

In the 49th minute Oscar Gomez put Sparks up 3-0 with an assist credited to Hector Hernandez. Clark tallied a mark in the 55th minute as the Chargers refused to give in, but the goal was nullified by a Hernandez score in the 63rd minute that put the icing on the cake for the Railroaders.

Sparks (27-1) will now face Secta (22-0), 1-0 winners over Truckee, to decide the Division I-A champion. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
