The Cougars opened the Division I Northern Region Girls Golf Tournament with a first-round 328 to take an 11-shot lead over McQueen halfway through the two-day tourney.
Sophomore Katrina Prendergast is well on her way to winning the individual title. The Cougar phenom carded a 71 and is five shots ahead of teammate Sammi Sorensen.
Trae Jones is in 13th with an 87, while Katrina Weil's 94 was the final counting score. Kirsti Settas and Joanna Perry had their scores of 95 and 107 dropped.
Reed qualified three golfers as individuals and two shot personal bests. Holli Smith finished with a 100, while Leighton Lee and Angela Vranken both had 103s. Smith and Vranken's scores were their top marks this year.
"The kids did a great job today," Reed girls golf coach Danielle Fleiner said. "Two of them had their best rounds of the year. We hope that carries into tomorrow and they break into the 90s for the first time. That's our goal for them. We're happy with their progress from the beginning of the season to now."
