RENO — During the month of October, The Discovery will offer a cooking series designed for families. The series will focus on healthy meals using ideas such as meal planning, doubling and ways to inspire children to get involved in the kitchen. The series, offered on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 6:30 p.m., is free with museum admission. Children and their parents are encouraged to attend together.

The series includes “Make Lunch, Take Lunch” on Wednesday, “Amazing Plan, Amazing Meals” on Oct. 17 and “Get Comfy Cozy” on Oct. 24. Join Dish Café’s Nancy Horn for these informative family classes focused on the importance of menu planning in creating easy-to-prepare family meals. Horn will demonstrate a number of ways to get children involved in shopping, meal planning and preparation. There’ll be samples to taste, too!

“Principles such as meal planning and doubling are a great way to ease the stress of meal preparation for families,” Horn said, co-owner of DISH Café. “Healthy eating habits are key for growing children adults, and these classes will help form those habits.”
