Milford, Calif. — The Honey Lake Motocross Park was the site for round 3 of the Reno Motocross Association's initial fall series. Although the rider count was a bit on the light side, all the racers gave a good account of themselves.

In the past, young Gavin Clouser was always very fast on smaller bikes and now he's in the 125/250F division and showing he's just as fast as he swept all four of his motos.

After his second School Boy moto Clouser said, "The race was good, the track awesome and it's a little rough but my Bridgestone tires were hooking up."

It was close, however, as Caleb Frandsen was reeling him in during the final laps.

Asked about this, Clouser said, "Yeah, I kind of ran out of stamina at the end but Trainer Max is hooking me up. It's really super rough and bumpy out there, but if it wasn't for my Liv Fast, WalMart, Monster Energy Kawasaki, I don't think I'd be able to win."

Both of his 125/250F motos were the same story as Clouser got the hole shot and just left everyone in his dust as he raced to victory.

The only pro racing was Johnathon Ayers and when the second 250/450F moto began, it looked as though he was off to another victory. But that's not exactly what happened as just past the halfway mark he fell.

"I went around a corner too fast and just slid out and when I got back up my bike wouldn't start," he said. "By the time I got it started everybody was coming down the downhill so I tried to do as much work as I could to catch up."

This gave the lead to Dylan Galliet, who rode in the junior division. Unfortunately he also went down, handing the lead to Zane Roberts, who used a determined, focused ride to claim the overall victory and win the junior division.

He did this despite being out gunned in the horsepower department as Roberts rides a 250cc two-stroke bike.

After taking the checkered he said, "I just kept charging and everybody else kept making mistakes so I just got past them. The hill is good but those 450's are out-powering me on a 250."

In the youngest ranks, Kade Krautstrunk and Lux Turner won their respective 50cc races. The 65cc division has two brothers from Sparks, racing each other in a combined moto where the beginner, junior and intermediate divisions were combined.

When the dust settled after the second moto, Mikey Hillyer, who is an intermediate, reached the checkered flag first with his younger brother, Danny, a junior rider, not far behind in second. Wyatt Brixey was the beginner winner.

Another Sparks rider, Danny Hillyer scored a double when he won the 85cc beginner and 65cc junior divisions.

The final race pitted veterans against each other in another combined race. Once again, Ayers got the hole shot and showed everyone his heels.

After taking the day's final checkered, good for the 30+ pro division victory, Ayers said, "I pulled a hole shot and concentrated on keeping a good clean race and just checked out. The track is awesome right now, although, I figured it wouldn't be this late in the day."

Another top finisher was 40+ Expert Emmett Ramirez, who said, "The race was awesome, and the track held up really well. Matt Bussell did a fine job with this Honey Lake track and I can't say enough about their efforts and it's appreciated."

Promoter Matt Bussell and his girlfriend, Christian Phillips have leased the track and are hard at work retaining its reputation as a well kept, technical and fast place to race. Many riders complimented them on their efforts.

OTHER RACING NEWS

•This weekend Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon ends its season with the annual Dirt Track Championships. The two-day show features the regular classes, including IMCA Modifieds, 360 Sprint Cars and the Amsoil Northern Nevada Outlaw Karts.

Racing begins at 4 p.m. Saturday for the karts followed by a 5 p.m. start for the cars. The action resumes Sunday at noon when the karts begin their show followed by the cars at 1 p.m.

•The desert racers of MRANN also have a two-show at Purgatory Peak as they race the Ichthyosoreass 100 at the north end of Winnemucca Lake.

The Pee Wees start Saturday's action at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mini Bikes, Women, Vintage and Bomber bikes. Then at 10 a.m. Sunday the big bikes face off as they race on a 47-mile long loop.

To the east of town, RMA hosts the fourth round of its fall series at the Fernley Lion's Motocross track located just west of the Veteran's Cemetery. As usual, the first moto should launch around 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

•The Busch brothers competed at the Talladega Super Speedway this weekend. Kurt started sixth and finished seventh in Saturday's Camping World Truck event.

In Sunday's wreck-filled Sprint Cup event, Kyle Busch started 13th but managed to stay out of the huge last corner crash and finished third. Brother Kurt ran afoul of the rules and was parked earning him a 40th place finish.
