The Town Hall on College Affordability and the Hispanic Community will bring together students, parents, teachers, education officials and community leaders. Representatives of the University, Truckee Meadows Community College and Western Nevada College will be on hand with college and financial aid information.
The program will include U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Luis Ricardo Fraga, a member of the U.S. President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and associate vice provost for faculty advancement at the University of Washington. Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Dan Klaich, University President Marc Johnson, Washoe County School District Superintendent Pedro Martinez and other education officials will be available for comment.
The event will be held at Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom (fourth floor) at the University of Nevada, Reno on Wednesday. Doors to the Ballroom will open at 4 p.m. and the Town Hall is from 5 - 6:30 p.m.
