Reno — On August 25, 2012 at approximately 4 p.m., numerous calls to 911 were received reporting several shots being fired in the 1600 block of Wedekind Road. Officers of the Reno Police Department as well as the Regional Gang Unit responded to the area.
Witnesses reported a blue Suburban driven by a female, and a male passenger had driven westbound on Wedekind Road from Sutro Street where three shots were fired into the air by the male passenger. The vehicle turned around and drove eastbound on Wedekind Road where four more shots were fired into the air by the passenger. The vehicle had last been seen driving westbound on Oddie Boulevard. No injuries were reported and no damage to property was discovered.
A vehicle matching this description was located at 6th Street and Wells Avenue by Reno Police Officers and stopped. A male passenger was found to be grossly intoxicated and in possession of an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. The female driver was under the influence of alcohol. A gun was recovered from inside the vehicle which had an obliterated serial number. Both were taken into custody and booked in to the Washoe County Jail.
