Nevada State Bank launches giveaway for schools

LAS VEGAS — Back to school also means the kickoff of the “Nevada State Bank $30K Giveaway: You Vote, Schools Win” campaign. Many people use social media to stay connected, but Nevada State Bank is using it to give away $30,000 to four Nevada public schools.

After the exciting $20K Giveaway in 2011, Nevada State Bank is raising expectations for 2012 with an additional $10,000. This includes a guaranteed prize for the top voted elementary school or a fourth place winner. Catch some video highlights from last year at www.youtube.com/NevadaStateBank.

Nevada State Bank believes in the importance of education and the difference it makes in the community. The bank continually strives to volunteer and invest in the future of the state’s children. Now, Nevada State Bank is asking the public to get involved and help determine which schools should share the $30,000.

The “Nevada State Bank $30K Giveaway: You Vote, Schools Win” campaign launched on Facebook Aug. 17. People are encouraged to vote for their favorite Nevada public school. Four prizes will be awarded. The first prize is $12,000, second is $8,000 and third is $5,000. The fourth place prize is $5,000 and goes to the top vote-getting elementary school if one did not place in the top three. If an elementary school places in the top three, then the fourth place prize goes to the school in fourth place overall.

“Social media has become our communication pathway with our communities, so we thought it fitting to use it for our next big outreach,” said Suken Shah, vice president of online marketing for Nevada State Bank. “Supporting education has always been a top initiative for Nevada State Bank. Literacy in particular is our passion, but we know Nevada’s schools need funds now more than ever. This promotional campaign not only highlights our dedication to the schools, but also enables entire communities to rally around their schools and show their own support.”

The campaign runs from Aug. 17 to Oct. 12. Voters simply log into Facebook and “like” the Nevada State Bank page. Click on the voting application to access the voting page with a drop down of all Nevada public schools. People can vote once per day and voting is open to anyone with a Facebook account. Parents, teachers, relatives, booster clubs, business partners — anyone who meets Facebook requirements — can join the effort to earn their school a piece of the $30K giveaway.

Weekly video updates will be posted on the Nevada State Bank Facebook page, but rankings can change in a blink.

”Call your friends and family — send the link — tell them you need their help to make your school the winner,” Shah said. “Social media is one of the fastest ways to reach out to your network — we’re excited to see our schools benefit through that same technology.”

The winning schools will be announced the week of Oct. 22, in honor of the Nevada Day observance.
