Elk experts and elk hunters alike packed into the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s 24th Annual Elk Camp & Hunting, Fishing and Outdoor Expo held Thursday through Sunday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

With many taste-tests, equipment sales, demonstrations and the World Elk Calling Championships any elk connoisseur can find something to do during the four day expo.

The smell of elk and buffalo meat as well as the sound of endless elk calls filled the air. Ralph Ramos' demonstration entitled "All the Right Moves" was where a majority of the calls were being made. He presented his audience with many ways to lure male and female elks with different calls and bugles and even with the use of elk antlers. He said that banging a set of antlers together while hunting instills in the elk a child-like tendency to go watch a fight, thus drawing them close enough for the kill.

Every facet of an elk hunt was on display in the many rooms of the convention center from the camouflage gear, flash lights and rifles to the pots and pans to cook the game. Launa Smith of Kitchen Craft gave hourly demonstrations of their products and how to cook different meats.

The convention could keep any Elk lover entertainment for an afternoon.
