New York City rapper Immortal Technique is one of a handful of modern hip-hop artists that haven’t forgotten its roots. With music that favors samples and simple old-school beats, Immortal boisterously combines rapid, on-beat flow with a variety of social messages straight from his own streets. These aren’t typical party jams: this is thoughtful stuff that still has all the swagger of the best in the genre.
