RENO — Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno is committed to providing academic credit short courses for degree programs, teacher recertification and career advancement. Late-start dates after the regular semester begins include evening and weekend schedules to help working adults fit classes into busy schedules. The University Credit Across Nevada (UCAN) office at Extended Studies administers these programs and offers the following courses for the Fall 2012 semester; courses are taught on the university campus and at other locations as noted.

Early registration is required. To register online, visit and search by course number or course title at www.ucan.unr.edu. For more information, call the university’s UCAN office in Reno at 784-4062, or call 1-800-233-8928. Fall 2012 undergraduate and graduate fees reflect per-credit surcharges applied by the University of Nevada, Reno in response to legislative budgetary adjustments by the Board of Regents; all fees are subject to change by the Board of Regents.

Classes include:

“Topics in Literature: The Real Game of Thrones” held Tuesday-Dec. 11.

“Advanced Historical Studies: The Maya World: 4,000 Years of an American Civilization” (HIST 498) held Tuesday-Dec. 11.

“History and Organization of the Library” (EDUC 472/672) held Sept. 8 and Nov. 17, plus online sessions.

“Special Topics: Nevada School Law and Constitution” (EL 791) held Oct. 5-6.

“Special Topics: Nevada School Law and Constitution” (EL 791) held Nov. 2-3.

“Special Topics Workshop: Advanced Stress Management” (CEP 491/691) held Nov. 9-10.
