TACOMA, Wash. — The Aces trailed by five runs early, but a five-run fifth inning tied it and a Josh Bell homer in the seventh capped the comeback effort, as Reno earned a 6-5 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium.

The Rainiers pushed across a run in the first, then added two more in each of the next two frames to jump out to a 5-0 lead. In the fifth, though, Reno scored five times with two outs in the inning, tying the score at 5-5. Two innings later, Bell deposited a Brian Moran offering over the wall in right to put the Aces ahead for good.

Aces starter Charles Brewer (10-7) earned the win, scattering five runs — four earned — on six hits with five strikeouts. After his exit, Mike DeMark worked a scoreless seventh, Jensen Lewis recorded two outs in the eighth, and Jonathan Albaladejo collected a four-out save.

The loss fell to Moran (2-3), who surrendered Bell’s solo homer out of the bullpen.

At the plate for Reno, Mike Jacobs singled and drove in two, while Konrad Schmidt added three hits. Reno was 3-for-4 with runners in scoring position.

The series comes a close on tonight at Cheney Stadium. Left-hander Zach Kroenke (6-3, 5.66 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, and RHP DJ Mitchell (0-2, 3.36 ERA) gets the nod for Tacoma. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be listened to live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting
