NV Energy supervisor Scott Kay holds a line used to purge gas from a main that’s being replaced at the corner of Stanford Way and Prater Way. At the bottom of the pit,Troy Callahan grinds excess metal from the new line. The project, to replace 1950s-era lines, is ongoing, but the crew is planning to finish this particular section by Wednesday. Granite Construction will then repave the street with the goal of finishing this week before school begins Monday.
