Both teams pushed across two runs in the fourth inning, but the Isotopes answered with four runs in the top half of the fifth and never trailed. Reno trimmed its deficit with two runs in the seventh and one more in the ninth, but the Aces failed to break through.
Eaton doubled and singled twice, raising his batting average to .382. He now has a PCL-best 166 hits with Reno and 178 hits overall this season — tops in the Minor Leagues.
Aces starter Trevor Bauer (4-1) suffered his first Triple-A loss, surrendering five runs — three earned — on six hits through 4 1-3 innings. After his exit, Zach Kroenke allowed two runs — one earned — in 2 2-3 innings, Matt Gorgen worked a scoreless eighth, and Jonathan Albaladejo held the Isotopes silent in the ninth.
Albuquerque starter Blake Johnson took a no decision, allowing two runs over 3.2 frames. Scott Rice (1-3) earned the victory out of the Albuquerque bullpen before Josh Wall ended the proceedings in the ninth for his 23rd save.
In addition to Eaton’s three-hit day, Taylor Harbin and Tyler Kuhn added two hits apiece for the Aces.
