RENO — “Get Real, America!” is an exciting and thoughtful new one-hour political talk show initially airing and streaming online Saturdays at 9 a.m. on Reno’s KJFK 1230 AM.

The show will feature interviews and panel discussions with progressive leaders, elected officials, candidates and leaders from community organizations supporting women, workers, minorities, LGBT and the Christian Left to address current national, state and local issues with hosts Chip Evans and Verita Black Prothro. The first show will air Saturday.

“Get Real, America!” will be produced and distributed by Nevada Matters Media Marketing with the intent to add stations for the show in markets beyond Washoe County.

Chip Evans, MBA, is the former Chairman of the Democratic Party of Washoe County, former member of the Executive Board of the Nevada State Democratic Party and a veteran of campaign field operations in Washoe since 2004. He was named one of the 50 Most Influential Democrats in Nevada by a national political journal, is a regular political pundit on “Nevada Newsmakers” and is frequently quoted in the Reno Gazette Journal. He is currently the Nevada Director of Cleantech Open and Principal Consultant for the Evans Consulting Group.

Black Prothro has held several positions in public relations, public information and publication design at the University of Nevada, Reno, The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and The National Judicial College. Most recently, she worked as the District Director for Congressman Dean Heller and Northern Nevada Director for United States Sen. John Ensign.
