The animals included five adult cats, six kittens, one adult dog and three puppies. The three puppies have been adopted and the kittens are in a foster home and will be available for adoption in a few weeks. The adult dog and five adult cats are now awaiting adoption at NHS. Although a bit shy upon first arriving the shelter, the animals are all friendly and well socialized. All are slightly underweight, but generally in good health.
“While we are sad that the family is no longer able to care for these pets, we are thankful that they notified us and we are very grateful to Officer Yellow Cloud for his assistance in rescuing the animals,” said Denise Stevens, Operations Director at NHS. “Donations toward the care of these animals would be a huge help, as our cost to care for each pet entering the shelter is $240. Donations of cat food are also needed at this time.”
All of the animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before adoption. If you would like to adopt one of these animals, please visit the NHS shelter at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno or call 856-2000 ext. 302. The shelter is open for adoptions seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and open an hour earlier on Saturdays at 10 a.m.
