RENO, Nev. (AP) — More heavy snow was expected in the Sierra Nevada on Monday after a series of storms dumped as much as 7 feet of snow in the past week.

The Lake Tahoe region remained under a winter storm warning, where forecasters said another 3 feet could accumulate by early Tuesday at the higher elevations.

The Reno-Carson City area had a dusting of snow overnight Sunday, but the National Weather Service said 1 to 3 inches was possible later in the day Monday.

Chains or snow tires were required on most trans-Sierra highways between northern Nevada and California, including Interstate 80 over Donner Summit, U.S. 50 over Echo Summit and Highway 88 over Carson Pass.
