RENO — Renown Health announced Wednesday that its rehabilitation hospital is the first and only in the region to earn the three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, an independent, accrediting body of health and human service providers founded in 1966.

This is the first time Renown Rehab or any rehabilitation facility in the region has been recognized with this accreditation, and makes it the only CARF Accredited facility between Sacramento, Calif., and Salt Lake City. This accreditation was granted for a three-year period, which is exceptional for a first-time applicant.

“This achievement is an indication of our organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the people we serve,” said Evelyn McGuckin, RN, executive director of Rehabilitation Services at Renown Health.

The CARF accrediting body recognized Renown Rehab as having a “well-established program focused on person-centered care that is evident in its dedication to excellence in the provision of care.”

Renown Rehabilitation Hospital is a free-standing, 62-bed specialty hospital for adult patients in need of intensive inpatient rehabilitation.
