The long-awaited meeting between the county Board of Fire Commissioners, made up of the County Commission, the Reno City Council and the Sparks City Council, was mainly a venue to discuss whether or not the city of Reno would accept an amended agreement from the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District that included changes to a few lines the city of Reno wanted the new district to abide by.
Prior to finally deciding to accept the agreement for a few weeks, until the group meets again next month, several accusations were thrown about, including statements made by Reno City Councilman David Aiazzi.
At one point, Aiazzi called the Truckee Meadows Fire Chief a possible “liar” and walked out of the meeting before the final vote.
“I think many of them were disrespectful,” Commissioner Bonnie Weber said. “There are decisions made you might not like. I hope we can work together in the future.”
The date for the August meeting has not been set.
“I think it was very productive today and hope next month’s meeting will be productive as well,” Commissioner Kitty Jung said.
