SPARKS — Children ages 12 and younger are invited to join the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department for the ninth annual Scheels Kid’s Triathlon at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Sparks Marina Park. The non-timed event provides an introduction to the sport of triathlon in a positive, non-competitive environment.
Participants will swim or walk in the water for the first leg of the race, followed by a 1.8 mile biking course and a .2 mile running course around the marina. Every athlete will receive a participatory medal, race bag and T-shirt.
Pre-registration is recommended and will be held through Thursday at the Recreation Office located at 98 Richards Way. The early registration fee is $18 per child. The entry form is available online at www.scheels.com/events or www.sparksrec.com.
Race day registration is $20 and will be accepted from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at the Sparks Marina. Race day registration may delay the shirt up to two weeks.
