RENO — Game wardens are seeking information about a mule deer buck that was killed by a shotgun blast to the face in the evening hours of July 1 on Peavine Mountain. Operation Game Thief (OGT) is offering a $500 reward to help catch the shooter.

Game wardens discovered the completely intact animal 10 yards off Peavine Road about half-way up the mountain in the afternoon of July 2. The entire carcass was left to rot, which is another crime in itself.

“This is a disturbing case of a thrill killing,” said Rob Buonamici, chief game warden with NDOW. “Not only did this person kill the animal illegally, he or she also left the entire animal to waste.”

Big game poaching in Nevada is a felony. To report wildlife crime, sportsmen and members of the public can call OGT at 800-992-3030. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
