Police ID moped driver, give details on suspect vehicle

RENO — Police said Tuesday that the vehicle responsible for the death of a moped driver Saturday is most likely a Toyota 4-Runner or Tacoma with a camper shell, made between 2003 and 2009. The vehicle is “galactic grey mica” and will have damage around its passenger side headlight assembly and the top of the hood.

The accident happened Saturday when the vehicle hit a moped in the bike lane from behind on N. McCarran Boulevard at Northtowne Lane. After carrying the moped a few hundred feet, the SUV drove away westbound toward U.S. 395, police said.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Eric Thomas of Reno.
