RENO — United Blood Services (UBS) of Reno is offering all presenting donors the chance to enter a raffle to win a 2012 Toyota Corolla this summer that is being provided by the Northern Nevada Toyota Dealers. This summer promotion will run through Sept. 1 with the winner selection event taking place on Sept. 24.

“We are offering our donors a chance to win a 2012 Toyota Corolla as our way of keeping the need for blood donations top-of-mind during the critical summer months when blood donations are typically lower with schools being out for the summer and everyone’s busy schedules,” said Steve Thomas, donor recruitment director for UBS of Reno. “This is especially important given hospital patients in northern Nevada continue to need blood every day for blood transfusions.”

This summer campaign will help ensure UBS of Reno has a sufficient quantity of blood donations this summer to meet all community hospital demand. UBS of Reno needs about 150 blood donors each day to meet the increasing need for blood transfusions in the community.

UBS of Reno is the sole blood products supplier to 20 hospitals in northern Nevada and needs approximately 150 blood donations every day to meet the increasing demand for three principal blood products: red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
