According to Romney, on his first day in office, should that miracle happen, he would cancel Obamacare, create more jobs, lower taxes and walk on water. On his second day in office, he would part the waters of the Red Sea and turn in the keys to his office since there would be no more work for him to do, thus saving the United States tons of money.
Romney declares Obama’s bailout of the banking industry was a bust. He never does state that the banking world is almost always a bastion for more Republican Merlin wannabes. Obama saved a whole bunch of big Republicans losers with the bailout of the banking world. The hope was that after the bailout, money would become available for businesses to invest in developing more businesses, thus creating jobs that middle-America so desperately needed. Did that happen? No, money tightened up, very little was loaned out and businesses dried up all over the country due to the lack of investment. Bonuses continued to be paid to banking executives, however, so the poor got poorer and the rich got richer. So much for banking bailouts.
As for Obamacare, the measure passed both houses of Congress, the president signed it into law and the measure has withstood the judicial scrutiny of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice Roberts, a Republican appointee. Republicans had better face facts: Obamacare is here to stay. Thanks to that measure every American will now have affordable medical care, like it or not.
Romney, the great wizard that he is, has not yet stated in any intelligible fashion how he plans to create more jobs for our country’s unemployed. Maybe he has devised a way to turn straw into gold. Rumpelstiltskin couldn’t do it, but Romney is the omniscient great wizard of blandness, mediocrity and shazam. He can do anything after all; he is the presumptive nominee of the great Republican Party.
If the Republicans are really as stupid as they seem and Romney does grab the nomination for the presidency, I give it until mid-August for the Republican house of cards to come tumbling down like the World Trade Center did the last time we had a Republican administration in the White House.
The president has tried to stimulate alternative energy developments only to be thwarted at every turn by Republican stonewalling. Alternative energy would add more jobs, cut the stranglehold the Arabs have on us with their fossil fuels, clean up the environment and put more money in everyone’s pockets. The Republicans have fought President Obama at every turn in his efforts.
Romney is like a latter-day saint proselytizing for a re-run of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” He wants us to see all the wonderful things his administration would bring upon us when in reality all his ideas are a gigantic false front with glitz and glimmer designed to blind us to his true reality, which is much less substance than we already have in force.
Our country has had hard times that continue to this day, but we are recovering slowly from the depths of this economic quagmire. We could do some things in the future that would help speed up our recovery.
We need to increase the amount of time that people can receive unemployment benefits. Along with this there should be a job training program that every recipient of unemployment must complete. Every recipient of unemployment benefits should test clean on a periodic drug test to be eligible for those benefits as well.
To stem the housing foreclosure wave, all lending institutions should discount all mortgages to the current market value of the property. The reduced amount can be written off by the lending institution. A formula for equitably handling future increases in property values should be worked out so that both the lender and the purchaser benefit from any increase in future property values. These measures would help stem the flow of foreclosures and see to it that our people at least have a home to call their base of operation to get themselves back on their financial feet.
We definitely don’t need any more smoke and mirrors of the kind that the Great Wizard Mitt Romney has relied on to this point. He needs to wait until he IS the Republican’s Presidential candidate until he spreads more of the B.S. (Basic Stuff) he has been spreading already.
