COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Aces fell behind early and never recovered Wednesday night, dropping a 19-4 decision to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in an Independence Day series opener at Security Service Field.

The Sky Sox scored 10 times over the game’s first three innings, then pushed across nine more runs in their final two at-bats to capture the victory. The loss for Reno snapped a three-game winning streak and marked the club’s first defeat in the month of July.

Aces starter Zach Kroenke (5-2) took the loss, surrendering 10 runs on 13 hits over three innings of work. After his exit, Bryan Henry kept Reno in the ballgame with three scoreless frames, but the Sky Sox tapped Taylor Sinclair and position player Taylor Harbin for nine runs over the game’s final two innings.

Sky Sox starter Guillermo Moscoso (5-3) earned the win, scattering four runs on seven hits through five innings.

At the plate for Reno, Jake Elmore collected four hits and two RBIs. A.J. Pollock registered three hits, while Konrad Schmidt added a solo home run—his fourth of the season.

The series continues on Thursday night. RHP Joe Martinez (7-5, 5.20 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Colorado Springs will counter with RHP Alex White (1-3, 3.45 ERA). First pitch from Security Service Field is set for 6:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be listened to live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting RenoAces.com.

The Aces will return to Aces Ballpark on July 12 to take-on the Salt Lake Bees.
